The Tucannon Guard Station was constructed in 1909. It’s a two-story wood frame structure with wood siding, shake shingle roof. The upstairs is divided into two sleeping areas. The ground floor has one bedroom, a living room, kitchen/dinning area, and a bathroom. The guard station has electricity and propane for heating and cooking. There is no garbage service so if you pack it in please pack it out. At this time there is running water all year, however it is not for consumption, so please pack in your own drinking water. Most cleaning supplies, dishes, pots/pans, and utensils are provided, however it is advisable to bring your own as things get broken or misplaced.
From the cabin, it’s a short drive north to some of the best fishing ponds in the Tucannon. There is also the Tucannon River to fish, however you will need to check the Washington State fishing regulations for seasons and regulations. 8-9 miles North of the cabin is The Last Resort which is a convenience store/gas station, and RV park. Access to trailheads and wilderness hiking trails is just a few miles to the South of the cabin with beautiful scenery along the road that follows the Tucannon River. There are many photo opportunities of wildlife around the cabin as there are wild turkey, pheasant, deer, elk, and there has even been moose spotted in the Tucannon Guard Station.
